No, neither can we. Quite apart from the Brexit fiasco and the farcical US Presidential election the world has obviously been dominated by the dreaded C word – Covid/Coronavirus. It has overshadowed much of everything that has been happening in 2020 including the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) and Victory in Japan (VJ) day and the festivals of Eid, Diwali and Jain. Even Halloween was a more subdued celebration. 2020 has been a year of challenges, confusing ‘advice’ and some outrageous hypocrisy and we witnessed the worst in people but also the best. Who could forget seeing the decimated supermarket shelves and the weary, elderly shoppers and keyworkers who got there too late to purchase what they needed? But a nation was warmed by random acts of kindness, generosity and selflessness including fundraising by 100-year-olds Dabirul Islam Choudhury and Captain Sir Thomas Moore, or Sir Tom as he is more commonly known, raising million of pounds for charity.
Then there’s the other C word to consider. Christmas. How people spend the festive season and whatever happens over the next few weeks is uncertain but what we do know is that there will be members of staff who will be very much appreciative of a break, including the incredible Solinear staff, who maintained the day to day running of the company, during the first lockdown, with the added challenges of social distancing, working from home and navigating an audit! Solinear passed with flying colours by-the-way. Of course, there are the extraordinary people who have been working tirelessly throughout the past few months all over the country to help keep us safe, fit, healthy, entertained and provided for in a variety of ways including ensuring a constant supply of toilet rolls! There may still be those who won’t get much of a break over the festive season and would appreciate a bit of kindness, consideration, support and patience – a simple smile and “how are you today?” can lift the mood of someone who is feeling a bit world-weary. Whatever the circumstances we could all do with a little encouragement and compassion as we try to navigate our way through life, especially at the moment when much of what is happening is beyond our control.
The Solinear team has endured highs and lows throughout the past few months but we are determined to take on 2021 and whatever it decides to throw at us.
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank and reassure our clients, existing and new, that Solinear has measures in place to facilitate the manufacturing and installation of our products during any potential further lockdowns. As always, we are grateful for your patience, loyalty and understanding and look forward to seeing you next year.
Solinear would like to wish everyone health and happiness for the future.
