Solar Shading systems provide a fantastic, modern addition to any building. A product that is as sleek and stylish as it is environmentally sound. By providing a dual purpose solution to heat loss in the winter months and shade in the summer months, that can be implemented and timed according to user preference, the Solar Shading system represents a revolution in environmentally friendly building embellishment. Let’s take a look at a few examples in which they can excel.
Schools and Universities
Solar Shading systems are a great option for schools: students can become hot and stressed or frustrated by glare during the summer, making for a disruptive classroom and distracted pupils. At Solinear, we provided Western Red Cedar Louvres to Steiner Academy, with fantastic results; its mixture of static and sliding panels provide efficient, smooth operation and a great aesthetic. Likewise, we installed a similar system at the University of Bradford, working with the already very stylish construction to provide the students, teachers and staff with fantastic shading, utilising our Medera Drop Rod System constructed from Western Red Cedar.
Hotels
Hotels can also benefit enormously from solar shading, as evidenced by our work at the Village Hotel Clubs in Ashton Moss and Leeds. Providing a cool climate for guests and staff is of enormous importance to their comfort, and bad light can also provide a negative atmosphere and discomfort. We used our Halo-300-50 elliptical profile as the feature to the main elevation, with effective solar shading and louvre screening around the perimeter.
Supermarkets
For similar reasons to those described above, louvres and solar shading are excellent methods of creating a calming, cool environment for customers, especially given the busy nature of supermarkets. By allowing themselves to moderate the temperature of their supermarkets, our clients provided a great additional service to their customers – allowing them to keep calm and cool throughout their shop and generally resulting in a more pleasant environment. We worked at a Marks and Spencer in Reading to provide timber solar shading and a Morrisons in Sittingbourne, where we provided a bespoke steel work structure to support our solar shading system.
With other projects including hospitals, apartment blocks and civic offices, Solinear has provided solar shading and louvres to a wide range of satisfied customers. With positives of aesthetics and environmental efficiency far outweighing the cost and timeframes in construction, it is no wonder that they are seen as excellent options to such a wide range of clients.
