Oh, ok, it wasn’t really snowing and if it was then we would have had major problems as this photo was taken in our office!
The Solinear team consist of a remarkable bunch of people who design, manufacture and install solar shading/brise soleil and architectural louvre systems creating the beautiful from the ordinary, working at the sort of heights that would make most people wince; they understand trigonometry and other subjects from school that most of us try to forget rather than relive the trauma; they find practical solutions for mind bending dilemmas; operate complex machinery…and yet give them a humble hole punch…
Priceless
We’ll spare the embarrassment of the unfortunate individual who succumbed to the curse of the hole punch but what we can reveal is that the look on their face was a priceless portrait of sheer disbelief and horror and it took a moment to fully comprehend what had just happened.
Schadenfreude
Needless to say, it brought out the Schadenfreude in a few of us who, very unhelpfully, just stood and laughed, especially Claudia – our project administrator and star of ‘What Claudia Did’ – who witnessed the hole…sorry, WHOLE disaster unfurl, in what seemed like a slow motion piece from a disaster film capturing every detail of the action.
Sorry
The raucous laughter soon stopped, however, when we realised that we had no means of clearing up the thousands of hole punches so all we could do was try to scrape up as much as possible with bits of cardboard and anything else that was to hand and then leave an apologetic note for our unwaveringly dedicated cleaners.
Destruction
Here is a lesson to us all – never underestimate the destruction and carnage a simple, unassuming hole punch can cause…especially five minutes before you’re due to go home at the end of the working day!
Memories
One last humorous memory to cherish from our old office and we’re looking forward to making fresh Solinear memories in our new office. We’ll keep you posted.
