What are Architectural Louvre?

An architectural louvre is a system of fixed or controllable blades designed to allow airflow while providing weather protection, screening or aesthetic treatment to a façade. Louvres are typically used to protect plant rooms, intakes and exhausts, car parks and rooftop equipment. As a specialist contractor, we design and supply louvre systems that balance free area, weather resistance, aesthetics and maintenance access, ensuring they perform technically while integrating with the architecture of the building.

An architectural louvre system is a series of fixed or operable blades designed to allow airflow while providing weather protection, screening, or aesthetic enhancement to a building façade. Louvres are commonly used to ventilate plant rooms and air intakes or exhausts while shielding them from rain and debris. They can also be used to enclose rooftop plant areas, support natural ventilation strategies, or achieve specific acoustic or security performance when designed accordingly.

As a specialist architectural louvre contractor, Solinear designs, engineers, and supplies bespoke architectural louvre systems through our Aquarius X-LINE range. Each system is developed to balance free area, weather resistance, acoustic performance, aesthetics, and maintenance access—ensuring every solution performs technically while integrating seamlessly with the building’s overall architectural design.
