Solar shading specialist Solinear is working with Interserve Construction to transform a trio of Leeds schools.
The York-based firm has been hired to bring stunning facades to three new-build schools in Seacroft, Belle Isle and Tinshill, for students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Solinear’s work on the first two has already been finished, while work on the third school is 90% Complete.
So far, Solinear has designed, manufactured and installed 2,000 Medera timber louvres, made of stylish and sustainable red cedar. To remove the need for bulky clamp fixings and make the finished results as visually clean as possible, the firm individually routed each timber to fit a hidden aluminium fix.
“We’re continuing to build on our trusting relationship with Interserve by securing the timber louvre subcontracts on the 3 SEMH schools projects in Leeds.
“The order was secured on the pre-tender collaborative design support our expert design team provided, along with the great customer service and the trading relationship we’ve developed with Interserve design teams throughout the UK over the past few years.
“Our work on two of the schools has already been completed on time, and the remaining works on the final school are well underway. When it’s finished, we’ll have provided over 1,500 square metres of bespoke vertical timber louvres!”
Ben Hull, Interserve contracts supervisor for the three school developments commented: “Solinear has provided a great product and service on the school projects and we look forward to working with them on future developments.”
