In early 2015 construction began on site which is part of a wider development of the Nine Elms area - one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe costing £15 billion and covering an astonishing 227 hectares; extending from Lambeth Bridge in the north, down to Battersea Power Station and Chelsea Bridge in the south.

It’s set to attract a variety of watersports enthusiasts, as well as walkers and, as rental bikes and cycle tours are also available, cyclists are encouraged to use the facilities too. Accessible beach wheelchairs are also provided. In addition it will act as a base for local clubs and groups including the local surf school to conduct surf and paddle board lessons as well as helping to educate visitors on the importance of coastal conservation. The purpose-built facility includes contemporary indoor and outdoor showers, changing cubicles and toilets. From the first-floor café/bistro/bar, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views over Rest Bay.

The premier theatre located in the heart of Liverpool, close to the river Mersey first opened its doors back in the 1930’s and was originally refurbished around sixty-eight years later in 1998. Nineteen years on and their 90’s refurbishment needed a face-lift.  Unity Theatre had three key objectives they wanted to achieve during their 2017 refurb.
- [Hanover Care Home, Elgin](https://www.solinear.co.uk/case-study/hanover-care-home-elgin/): Springfield Properties approached us, tasking our design team to create a visually striking, low maintenance brise soleil system for the first floor glazing covering two sides of the Hanover Care Home, Dementia Unit in Elgin. The most challenging aspect of the solar shading system design was definitely the critical requirement for the system to withstand the extreme weather conditions often found in the town of Elgin. Located over 200 miles from the Scottish Borders, Elgin’s weather can range from glorious sunshine in summer to some of the harshest and bitter winters known in the UK. Our brise soleil system needed to be robust and durable enough to endure anything the unforgiving, rural environment could throw at it, without compromising the overall finish or sustainability of the façade.

The building, a modern Centre for Performing Arts nestled within the centre of the school grounds, consisting of 200 acres filled with stunning greenery and the imposing Victorian architecture that gives Caterham School it’s regal identity. Our main task was to create a high quality, aesthetically pleasing exterior finish to the Solar Shading without compromising the tradition, history or integrity of the school grounds. Contrasting modern with traditional to create a building admired by all who visit the school, whether that be young or old.

- [University of Sheffield](https://www.solinear.co.uk/case-study/factory-2050/): Factory 2050’s striking circular layout certainly raised a lot of interest at the constructing excellence awards this year when it bagged the ‘Project of the Year 2016’ award, however the design also raised a variety of interesting challenges for us here at Solinear in the design and installation of our Factory 2050 louvre systems. The complex faceted roof turret had to be designed accurately and manufactured to a high tolerance level ensuring the desired circular shape was achieved, in keeping with the modern, aesthetically pleasing building whilst creating a seamless flow of functional louvres. The Aquarius louvre range installed on this project accentuates the avant-garde appearance of Factory 2050 and epitomizes the buildings objective: function without sacrificing form.
