Eight years at Oak Tree House
Those who have visited the current Solinear head office won’t have failed to notice the huge oak tree next to the office – hence the name Oak Tree House, of course – and it has been lovely to see the change of seasons reflected in its branches and leaves, however, it’s time for Solinear to leave its current home and branch out…sorry!
Thanks to Solinear’s reputation and mounting popularity as architectural louvres, solar shading and brise soleil specialists, we are increasingly being specified for more projects therefore we’ve taken on extra staff and subsequently require a larger car park for staff as well as clients; we’ve invested in more equipment including a 3D printer (with plans to purchase more). We realised that we needed more room for manufacturing as well as a dedicated meeting room, a display area for samples, our own fully equipped kitchen and an area to relax and socialise in, so, it was with heavy heart that the decision was made to move after eight years at Oak Tree House.
We’re not going far though!
Sheriff Hutton Industrial Park has been Solinear’s home for many years and, as units 18-20 (formerly home to Black Event Furniture) became available, it was a logical solution to remain on the industrial estate, so, we’re quite literally going to be just around the corner!
As the units are just shells at the moment the Solinear team is investing a great deal of time and money in making them a suitable home for our expanding architectural louvres, solar shading and brise soleil business that will last for many years to come.
Superior interior
The office areas, meeting room and display area have been meticulously planned out and colour coordinated with brand new flooring, modern desks, tables and chairs in contemporary hues as well as light walls and accent colours. We’ll have a few ceramic pots with real, living office plants – none of these tacky plastic or fabric imposters that do nothing but collect dust – to enhance the office environment and provide a sense of calm and natural aesthetics. Those who have read our Sick Building blog (www.solinear.co.uk/sick-building-syndrome-and-the-importance-of-ventilation-louvres/) will appreciate the importance of a well-planned and maintained environment including real plants – they help to purify the air and are aesthetically pleasing. As a business that prides itself on making offices all over the country more comfortable and attractive with the addition of our solar shading and ventilation louvres, the Solinear team understands the value of a pleasant and productive working environment. We might give those ubiquitous motivational quote wall vinyl graphics a miss though.
Tom (of ‘What did Tom do?’ fame) has even mentioned a workout area with morning yoga and pilates before work! We’re not sure how serious he is and none of us has rushed out to buy yoga pants.
The countdown begins!
We won’t be at Oak Tree House much longer with plans in place to be settled into the new units by mid-November and whilst it’s sad that we won’t be looking out of the window and gazing upon the stunning, mighty oak tree or the cute, fluffy wild rabbits playing outside as well as the occasional beautiful curious fox, we are excited at the prospect of having a much bigger, lighter, brighter place to work and an area for relaxing in too. As the festive season will be just a matter of a few weeks from moving in date we need to consider the all-important question of how big our Christmas tree can be now that we have more room?!
