Engaging with potential partners across the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) community is one of the principles our business was founded on, and for this reason it gave us great pleasure to launch SolBIM, a dedicated library for building information modelling (BIM) files, which will be open to all via a free private log in.
We hope that the library will act as a valuable resource for firms that are assessing the use of solar shading in their projects, providing a tangible, visual representation of each product in 3D form, allowing for easier integration into the planning process. Products are designed to work independently or in tandem to produce the best solar shading solution for each building.
Following the launch of SolBIM, we will now start to incorporate parametric .RFA files into the download folders, alongside the existing .ADSK & .IFC files. This will give any architect, engineer or construction planner the benefit of viewing three dimensional scenes thanks to the Revit Family File models that are created using the industry standard Revit Family Editor.
With these new additions, our aim is to accommodate all CAD users within the AEC industry and hopefully make the use of our files simpler and more efficient. The BIM models can now be directly incorporated into the working CAD models of SolBIM library members, with key information on detail material type, dimensions, scalability, and modification of material easily accessible thanks to the new resource. The free download packages we offer are easily accessible, being packaged in ZIP files for your convenience.
We really want to bring to life the possibilities that solar shading can provide to buildings, giving viewers a realistic perspective of the benefits when it comes to thermal performance, as well as the aesthetic impact that solar shading can provide a site with, and nothing does this more effectively than 3D models.
