As many will be aware, Solinear is an award-winner in its own right, but the team has also worked on some incredible, award-winning projects.
Below are just a few:
- Ada Belfield Centre and Belper Library, Derbyshire – a combined care home and public library received an architecture award from The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and was praised for reusing parts of the old Thornton’s factory that was previously located on the site. Solinear manufactured custom perforated decorative mesh panels to windows and doors of the care home along with parapet flashings and cladding to the main entrance, all finished in a stunning bronze colour adding a welcoming warmth to the façade of the building.
- Solinear’s best kept secret, Battersea Power Station, was the recipient of the Best Mixed-Use Scheme by the Building London Planning Awardsfor its integration of retail, office, leisure, culture and residential space, all within the original historic envelope of this iconic building. Solinear manufactured an extensive Aquarius Viento system (Aquarius X-line 75 single bank louvre system, with 300mm deep acoustic module and motorised damper which was installed around the large rooflight nestled amongst the rooftop garden.
The Battersea Power Station development officially opened to the public on 14th October this year. - The Evolution Centre at Oaklands College has been awarded ‘Best Project Delivering Sustainability Outcomes’ at the 2022 Pagabo awards. The Evolution Centre is the main teaching block on Oaklands College’s St Albans campus, with 49 classrooms and support spaces for teaching staff. Solinear manufactured and installed an attractive bespoke brise soleil system to the south elevation of the building. The aesthetics of the contemporary teaching block were carefully considered with the Halo system finished in RAL 8003 30% gloss PPC finish (clay brown) providing architectural enhancement to the building, perfectly complementing and accenting its sleek black cladded façade.
- The First Light Pavilion was a phenomenal project with its striking, organic architecture and bold sumptuous curves – along with Battersea Power Station, this project would prove to be one of Solinear’s most iconic and was the deserved recipient two North West Regional Construction Awards for Innovation and the Sub-Regional Project of the Year Award (Cheshire, Wirral and Warrington). The First Light Pavilion project, whilst presenting some challenges, proved that the Solinear team is resourceful and the products adaptable and versatile, delivering a system that successfully achieved the required specification and realising the vision of the innovative people involved in designing and planning the construction.
- One of our more recent projects, Oxygen Towers, was a regional winner of the Best High-Volume New Housing Development – 2022 by LABC. Solinear’s Versatil soffit louvre systemwas specified as an appropriate bespoke soffit system treatment for the overhangs around the perimeter of the building. Just as the specially molded-to-fit system was installed in the overhanging eaves, Solinear was invited to tender for the fin and louvre package on the remainder of the project and won the contract. The new contract incorporated flue covers, louvre elements and fins – including the intricate arrangement of allotment fins. The incredible versatility of Solinear’s products allowed each system to be of a custom-made design, suiting the project’s specific requirements and its many intricacies.
Congratulations to everyone involved in these projects – including Solinear’s highly skilled team. Solinear looks forward to working on more award-winning projects in the future.
