Can we still get Brussels sprouts?
Well, some things have obviously changed since this time last year – some for the better, some for the worse.
In last year’s festive update, 2020 was compared to the much-maligned Brussel sprout – some embracing it whilst others loathed it. With the onslaught of Brexit came the worrying realisation, for many, that some things were going to change and not for the better, as had been falsely promised. Those who didn’t want Brexit looked on with frustration as chaos ensued and as transportation and labour were restricted, some may have been wondering if the divisive Brussels sprout was going to be available for the festive season?

Let’s move on, and quickly!
Solinear is happy to report that, despite the challenges of 2020/2021, business is booming with enquiries coming in from all over the country as well as worldwide. In fact, one of Solinear’s most high-profile and prestigious projects was based 4,000 miles away in Oman (Sultanate of Oman) and, as much as the Solinear team would have loved to have visited the site and managed the project in person, it just wasn’t feasible. Ultimately, Oman became one of Solinear’s highly successful supply only projects and the team is quite rightly very proud of it.
The Solinear team is also proud to report that not only were Constructionline Gold, CHAS Premium Plus, CHAS Health & Safety and Alcumus SafeContractor accreditations awarded to Solinear once again but the well-respected ISO 9001:2015 certification too.
Renowned publication, BUILD magazine honoured Solinear in its 2021 Construction & Engineering awards category being recognised as one of the country’s leading Architectural Solar Shading Engineers and flying the flag for businesses in Yorkshire. Solinear’s Majestic project in Leeds amazed judges, standing out as one of the most impressive architectural and louvre shading projects of 2020/21.
It was a pleasure to welcome new team members this year including Richard, our new estimator, Laura, our new procurement co-ordinator, Ben, our eager new junior designer and Sohaib, our apprentice design engineer. They have all settled in very well and are enjoying their new roles within the Solinear team.
Solly steps in…again
Although Christmas jumper day might have fallen a bit flat this year, No.10 can confirm that there is a glimmer of hope for small-scale office festivities (correct at time of writing). Anyone for cheese and wine?
For now, Solly, Solinear’s motivational mascot, has volunteered to be designated Christmas jumper wearer (again) and he’s loving it! He’s wearing his 2020 festive jumper, by the way, because he’s very aware of the environmental impact of buying new clothes.
Looking ahead to 2022
2021 may be 2020’s slightly more well-behaved sibling but it’s still a case of “could do better” so here’s hoping that 2022 is an improvement. There is no doubt that Solinear products and services remain very popular and in high regard and the enthusiastic Solinear team is ready to get stuck in to 2022.
