Happy birthday to Solinear
In late November, Solinear was proud to achieve its 18th year of being a successful business.
Founded by Tony Dwyer back in 2004, the company has gone from strength to strength – from smaller scale contracts in the early days to considerably more high-profile, high-value projects over the past few years including Jodrell Bank and Battersea Power Station, amongst others, which have been overseen by Tom Dwyer (one of Tony’s sons) who took over from Tony in 2019. Tom is very shrewd when it comes to the running of Solinear as he has expanded the business gradually and with very careful consideration for the future. In late 2019, after several years in the Oak Tree House office, Solinear moved to Units 18-20, Alan Farnaby Way (Sheriff Hutton Industrial Estate), just around the corner from the old office, as the former premises was unable to accommodate the flourishing business. The move also coincided with Solinear’s 15th birthday – which only seems like yesterday and in the blink of an eye, Solinear will be 20!
Over those 18 years, Solinear’s considerable reputation has presented opportunities for the team to experience working on some of the UK’s finest and most iconic architecture and collaborate with highly respected architects and builders. The team has worked on some award-winning projects and Solinear is an award-winner in its own right.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal clients and supporters over the last 18 years and, of course, the Solinear team (past and present).
We look forward to celebrating many more achievements and birthdays with you.
Pantomime season started early
Shouts of “Oh, no it isn’t. Oh, yes, it is…” along with the obligatory boos and hisses when the pantomime villain made an unwelcome appearance and then subsequently disappeared in a puff of smoke after causing mayhem and discord…
That’s right, speculation regarding who was running the country (possibly in to the ground) next was rife and none of the applicants have been fit for purpose – unless playing the back end of the panto donkey. A lettuce also seemed to have a starring role in the farce and there was even rumour that the ultimate pantomime villain, Boris Johnson, was going to make an unwelcome reappearance. Cue those boos and hisses!
It can be a worrying time for businesses as with each new “successor” and their priorities and “budget/mini budgets” there is inevitable uncertainty.
Solinear has seen seven PMs come and go (seemingly each one more useless than their predecessor) and is hoping 2023 sees a complete leadership overhaul, bringing some stability and better governance for all our sakes.
Speaking of controversy and unpopular decisions – the FIFA World Cup raised many eyebrows right from the very beginning and is still being hotly contested after it has finished.
Suffice to say, a few members of the Solinear team have offered their expertise on the matter but it’s not printable. We congratulate Tony, one of Solinear’s expert site worker’s, who was assigned Argentina in the Solinear World Cup sweepstake – well done!
Solinear is ready for a break
Whether you love it or hate it, Christmas is upon us and the Solinear team has enjoyed an epic Christmas party after an epic year and is now ready for a well-earnt break. The office will be closed from 4pm on Wednesday 21st December 2022 and will re-open at 8am on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 so please keep that in mind if you have a project booked in with us or would like to discuss your solar shading and louvre requirements for 2023.
Upon return we’ll be refreshed, and if 2022 is anything to go by, we’ll be prepared for a very busy year ahead, so we’re all looking forward to hearing from our faithful and loyal customers as well as new contacts that we hope will develop into great working relationships.
We appreciate that many are facing difficulties at the moment, and we would like to wish everyone kindness and compassion over the festive season – and beyond – and a 2023 of health, happiness and wellbeing.
