Tom was raised with the family business and has 20 years’ experience in the sector, working in every facet of the business including fabrication, installation, design, project management, to now fulfilling his role as Managing Director of Solinear.
Outside of work, Tom prioritises time with his family, enjoying gardening, keeping fit and travelling as much as possible.
He’s still a die-hard Ravens fan!
Gemma is the backbone of our operations, ensuring the smooth running of our office and supporting the team in delivering exceptional results. With her impeccable organizational skills and proactive approach, she keeps everything on track, from managing day-to-day tasks to coordinating projects seamlessly.
With a keen eye for detail and a friendly demeanour, Gemma creates a positive and productive environment for both staff and clients. Her dedication to efficiency and professionalism makes her an invaluable part of the team.
Andy has been working for Solinear since the beginning of 2017. After completing a Design Engineering course gaining a 1st class honours degree he spent two years as a project engineer working alongside some of the UK’s biggest construction companies.
His passion has always been in design and he is now part of our talented team providing high-end design for our clients.
Andy enjoys the outdoors whether it be hiking, mountain biking or just walking the dogs. He can often be found at the indoor snow slope practicing his moves ready for the next winter holidays.
Elliot brought his diverse expertise, including an apprenticeship in welding and fabrication, to Solinear and is now responsible for the daily running of the factory, goods in/out to site, quality assurance and scheduling all new projects within the allotted dates. Prior to joining us, Elliot travelled the UK undertaking different contract roles as a fabricator, and learning various ways to hone his skills. Ever resourceful, whilst contracting, he lived in a van conversion thus saving money and travelling in between jobs.
He enjoys hikes, watching boxing and learning new skills. Those skills are proving useful as he’s presently converting a transporter van into a campervan for getaways, and over the course of five months he renovated his current house – it’s been a labour of love.
As a twin, Elliot is the self-proclaimed “good looking one”; he’ll try anything once and he hums tunes…in his sleep!
Elliot is pictured with Solinear’s office mascot, Olive; a red fox labrador who’s the life of the party and loves everyone*. * Perhaps with the exception of salespeople…she has a keen nose for them!
Whitby born and raised, Andrew joined us as a project designer in 2022 bringing valuable skills to Solinear after having spent four years designing special purpose machinery and two years in the construction industry as well as achieving a HND in Mechanical Engineering.
In his spare time, Andrew embraces the exhilaration of being the passenger of a sidecar racing team, competing at national level and at the world-famous Isle of Man TT Races. He is also passionate about music, attending gigs as often as possible and regularly traveling to London to see his favourite bands. When at home he enjoys relaxing with his cat, Ravus (Latin for grey).
George is one of Solinear’s factory operatives which encompasses a great deal in George’s case.
His responsibilities include machine operative, cutting material, building panels and doors, CNC operator as well driving the forklift and packaging items with care, preparing them for delivery.
Before joining Solinear, George had varied experience within the building and construction sector including modular house assembly in the Knaresborough-based Ilke Homes factory.
Despite having carved out a career in building and construction, Goerge studied for a BTEC in sports science and he’s a qualified phlebotomist. For those who don’t know what a phlebotomist is and aren’t squeamish; it’s a healthcare professional who is specially trained to collect blood samples from patients through venipuncture (puncturing a vein, usually on the arm).
In his spare time, George is an avid photographer as well as enjoying camping and hiking, gaming and following Liverpool football club. He’s also very well-travelled and trained as a bartender in Thailand.
As an avid Liverpool supporter, George’s go to idiom is “You’ll never walk alone”.
Richard, or Rich as he prefers to be known, is one of Solinear’s factory operatives responsible for assembling the facade components and systems with the precision and care that Solinear is well-known for.
His maxim is “enjoy work, you’re at it a long time!” Perhaps it can be deduced from this statement that he enjoys his work at Solinear…? We hope so!
When he isn’t working at his “very enjoyable job”, he likes to get stuck into some DIY and take long walks with his two cherished canine companions. As one is a boxer and the other a retriever, it’s safe to say they are bundles of boundless energy which benefits one of Rich’s other favoured leisure activities, keeping fit.
Rich is proud York born and bred, studying at Burnholme School in Tang Hall as a youngster and proving to be a credit to his hometown...
Rich is clearly very humble about his achievements. When asked to specify anything unusual or remarkable about his life his reply was “no, very boring.” Well, that’s’ not strictly true. In his youth, Rich was a very successful former rugby league player for York City Knights, Hull Kingston Rovers and as well as Hunslet Hawks with whom he won the league. Sadly, an ongoing injury forced him into retirement in 2004 and he was honoured by The Former Players' Association in appreciation of his service to rugby in York.
Whilst clearly a loss to rugby, he’s proving to be a great team player for Solinear.
Dean’s role is to ensure the effective delivery of all projects to the highest quality standards that Solinear is well-known for. Leading the operations team, he oversees purchasing, production and installation, along with the management of the client team.
Dean insists “It’s a team effort at Solinear and I wouldn’t be as effective without the fantastic people that work within our organisation. There is a shared vision, and we are all committed to delivering the bespoke needs and expectations of our clients.”
Dean joined Solinear in 2021 with transferable skills and industry related qualifications. Educated to a degree level, he also achieved PRINCE2 Practitioner and has undertaken management and leadership training.
Outside of construction, he has a wealth of experience in varying fields, including leading teams to deliver government contracts in the sport, charity, local authority and leisure sectors.
Dean’s ability to absorb and retain information quickly has resulted in a highly developed and specialised knowledge of the services and systems that the company offers. This includes product suitability, quality assurance and successful installation methods.
He thrives on collaboration and planning a route to efficiently get to the end goal.
Dean states that his aim is to “Always deliver the product effectively and with customary expertise”.
Outside of work, Dean has high aspirations to play football, although, every Friday morning his colleagues are quick to tell him that he’s “getting too old” as he hobbles round the office! He is certainly kept on his toes by his two young sons and wife Laura, as they spend their weekends enjoying a busy calendar of gatherings and activities including meeting with friends/family and attending clubs.
People describe Dean as “energetic”, “determined” and “sociable”.
In Solinear terms this means “it’s quiet when he isn’t in the office!”
