Oops…!
It was a lovely, calm Friday afternoon at Solinear HQ – the birds were tweeting, rabbits were frolicking in the grass, daisies were gently swaying in the breeze (I think we’ve adequately painted a picture of sublime tranquillity for you here) – and it was nearing home time (we finish at 3pm on a Friday), when we started to receive an unusually large number of calls for Tom Dwyer (Solinear Director).
There’s no mistaking that Tom is a lovely guy and we can understand that people like to talk to him, but we didn’t require Miss Marple’s powers of detection to conclude that something ominous was afoot.
We discovered, to our horror, that there was a sinister and undesirable entity lurking in Tom’s emails and it had sent somewhere in the region of 400 unsolicited junk emails from his address requesting the recipient to login into a bogus website.
Tom, by the way, was out of the office and was therefore blissfully unaware of the ensuing chaos and at the time only three of us were in the office fielding the calls! The Solinear team like a bit of exhilaration – there has even been talk of axe throwing and archery for the next work social event – however, this wasn’t the sort of excitement we were wanting on a Friday afternoon!
Sorry
Luckily people that we spoke to were very sympathetic and understanding about it and we’d like to thank those who called, texted or emailed to report/query it and we offer our sincere apologies to all those who received the malevolent email.
Every cloud though…
One of the callers, who had received the email from Tom and rang him to check the authenticity of it, decided to place an order with Solinear! Thus the old adage – ‘There is no such thing as bad publicity’ certainly proved itself that day!
This is Tom…
Tom opens suspect emails!
Don’t be like Tom.
