Christmas 2019 will be a long distant memory for most, for some, however, it will be ingrained for years to come – just ask Tom, our MD and star of ‘What Did Tom Do?’
Didn’t get the memo
We specifically told him we would be wearing Christmas jumpers on the 6th December – that’s right, Tom – we definitely told you! “6th December, Tom!” that’s what we said. “No excuses, Tom!” we insisted. “Tom, you are the figurehead of the Solinear team” we said. “If we’re wearing Christmas jumpers then so are you, Tom!” we asserted.
6th December arrived. Guess who claimed they “didn’t get the memo”? That’s right – Tom!
Spare kit
Those of us who are old enough to remember, will recall the dread of forgetting our P.E. kit and the humiliation of having to run, cross-country in just vest and pants/knickers. If we were lucky enough, we were able to source something from the spare kit box. The same principle was applied to Tom. A spare Christmas jumper was offered to Tom and he dutifully agreed to wear it.
It was immediately obvious, however, that there was a problem. Once Tom had got his head through, there was the tricky matter of arms… In a manoeuvre that could only be described as trying to get a sleeping bag into a sock, Tom finally managed to get into the Christmas jumper.
Don’t be like Tom…again!
The Christmas jumper that Tom is wearing in this photo is a very snug fit and that’s because it’s a lady’s size small – donated by Gemma, Solinear’s office manager. It’s uncertain if Gemma always carries a spare Christmas jumper around in her bag like a festive Mary Poppins, but this is what we are sure of; Throughout December make sure you have your Christmas jumper to hand or set a reminder for Christmas jumper day otherwise be that crestfallen kid who forgot their P.E. kit…or Tom who forgot his Christmas jumper.
Good cause
Charity shops and websites selling pre-loved Christmas jumpers are always worth a look, saving money, helping the environment and good causes plus there’s the prospect of finding some really unique jumpers. Save The Children’s official Christmas jumper day helps to raise money for children requiring much-needed help and support, not only in the UK but all over the world. Find out more here www.savethechildren.org.uk/christmas-jumper-day/about.
After the year we’ve had, however, it can be Christmas jumper day every day!
